Polylimnio waterfalls, Natural waterfalls and lakes system in Charavgi, Greece.
Polylimnio waterfalls form a system of about fifteen interconnected lakes linked by cascading water in a forested setting near Kalamata. The lakes have turquoise-colored water and are surrounded by rock formations and trees.
The water system remained hidden from public knowledge for decades until local residents began sharing information about its location in recent years. This discovery transformed it from a secret place into a destination people could visit.
Local people have given each water body specific names based on what they notice, like Mavrolimna for its dark water or Kadoula for its heart shape. These names reveal how the place belongs to the community and its way of seeing nature.
Reaching the lakes requires a hike of about three kilometers along mountain paths that demands sturdy footwear and plenty of water. Starting early in the day and bringing sun protection will make the trip more comfortable.
The tallest waterfall here drops about 25 meters into Kadi Lake, creating a natural pool surrounded by large rocks. This deep basin is one of the most striking features visitors encounter.
