Batteriekopf

Batteriekopf is a mountain summit in the Vosges standing at 1311 meters and made of crystalline schist. Multiple hiking paths climb toward the peak through varied terrain and different approaches.

The summit served as a strategic observation point due to its position along the Route des Crêtes during regional conflicts. Its location allowed monitoring of surrounding valleys and border areas.

Local communities in Wildenstein and Metzeral maintain traditional hiking festivals that connect residents with the mountain's natural environment throughout seasons.

The summit is accessible on foot with parking available near the base of marked trails. Different routes offer varying difficulty levels and travel times.

The western slope is part of the Hautes-Chaumes du Rothenbach nature reserve protecting rare alpine grasslands and their ecosystems. Visitors may encounter specialized plant species and mountain habitats here.
