Château de Lamartinie is a large castle in Ytrac with a central square tower built in the early 1600s and wings and towers added later. The building combines different building styles, with thick walls and small windows from earlier times alongside more elegant details added in later periods.
The castle was first mentioned in 1592 and shows building elements from the 1500s and 1600s reflecting different construction phases. The most important restoration happened in 1895 when architect Lemaigre-Dubreuil added new towers and restored many old features.
The name Lamartinie comes from the families who lived in and shaped this castle over centuries. The interior rooms show through their wood paneling and decorated ceilings how residents in the late 1800s arranged their living spaces.
