Tour D2 is a 37-story office tower rising 171 meters (561 feet) in La Défense with a distinctive metallic mesh facade. The building uses a concrete core anchored by an external steel structure that forms its visible exterior frame.
Tour D2 stands on the site of the Tour Veritas, demolished from June to September 2011; foundations were laid between October 2011 and February 2012. The design by architect Anthony Béchu with Tom Sheehan won the competition, and the first stone was laid on 4 October 2012. Vinci subsidiaries GTM, Dumez and Bateg built it; the tower was delivered in December 2014 and inaugurated on 27 January 2015.
The tower's shape is often compared to a three-dimensional avocado, with three different faces: a tall facade toward Paris, a narrower profile toward Courbevoie and a curved back aligned with the boulevard. Its architect, Anthony Béchu, won the competition with Tom Sheehan. The building won the 2015 ArchiDesignClub Award in the new offices and retail category.
The building is easily accessible during the day through multiple entrances facing the surrounding La Défense plazas. Keep in mind that it is primarily office space with limited public areas beyond the main lobby and ground floor.
