Vaise, Urban neighborhood in northwestern Lyon, France.
Vaise is a neighborhood in northwestern Lyon that stretches along the Saône River at the base of the Duchère plateau. The area contains residential blocks from different periods, green spaces, and a mix of older and modern structures.
The area was originally an independent town and became part of Lyon in 1852, first within the fifth district. In 1964, it was transferred to the ninth district, reflecting its current administrative position.
The neighborhood's street names reflect local craftspeople and business owners who shaped the district over time. Walking through Vaise, you can still see traces of this working heritage in the building facades and layout.
The Metro Line D at Valmy station connects the neighborhood quickly to Lyon's center and provides straightforward access. Cycling paths run through the area, making it easy to explore on foot or by bicycle.
Beneath the streets of Vaise lie remains of an ancient Gallo-Roman necropolis from an early settlement period. These archaeological finds show the area had human activity dating back to prehistoric times.
