Espace San Bernardo

Espace San Bernardo is a ski area connecting the French side at La Rosière with the Italian side at La Thuile, offering over 100 kilometers of slopes together. The terrain spans both sides of the mountain and is served by multiple lifts providing constant access to higher elevations across the linked resorts.

The area developed its cross-border link in the 1980s, connecting two separate ski resorts into a single destination. This connection allowed both sides to offer visitors a larger and more varied skiing experience.

The mountain setting blends French and Italian traditions, with visitors experiencing regional food and local customs as they ski across the border. The two national influences shape how the slopes and mountain villages feel distinct yet connected.

The slopes are best explored early in the day when conditions are freshest. Visitors should prepare for changing weather and wear warm clothing in layers to adapt to different elevations and temperature shifts.

One of Europe's steepest runs, the Franco Berthod slope on the Italian side offers extreme descents that challenge even experienced skiers. This demanding terrain has made it a venue for high-level skiing competitions.
