Louis Vuitton Foundation, Cultural center in Bois de Boulogne, Paris, France.
The Louis Vuitton Foundation is a contemporary art museum in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. The glass and steel structure rises across multiple levels, with curved surfaces that resemble sails and wrap around the galleries inside.
Construction began in 2006 following a design by Frank Gehry and was completed eight years later. The opening took place in October 2014, after the project received special permissions to build within the protected park grounds.
The collection brings together works from artists around the world, with rotating exhibitions that change several times each year. Visitors often spend time in the open spaces around the galleries, where installations and sculptures are displayed outdoors.
The museum sits in the western part of the Bois de Boulogne and can be reached by metro or bus. Most visitors plan around two to three hours to explore the exhibitions and the outdoor areas.
The glass surfaces consist of more than 3,500 individual panels, each shaped differently. Every panel was fabricated using digital models to replicate the wave-like forms with precision.
