Mont Julioz

Mont Julioz is a limestone summit in the Bauges that rises above the Doucy Valley and offers expansive views of the surrounding mountains. This peak is part of a hiking network with multiple approach routes that pass through alpine meadows.

This peak has been used by herders for centuries, and their stone chalets still stand in the surrounding pastures today. This long history of pastoral use continues to shape the region's character.

This summit is part of the Bauges Regional Nature Park and shapes the landscape that surrounds local communities. Its slopes reflect traditional pastoral practices that have defined the region for generations.

The ascent requires good hiking gear and solid physical fitness, especially for the steeper sections. Conditions in the higher areas can change quickly, so stay flexible and turn back if weather deteriorates.

Certain sections of the ascent are secured with ropes to guide hikers through the steepest limestone passages. These technical aids make the summit accessible to more experienced hikers.
