Lille observatory of astronomy

Lille Observatory comprises three connected buildings featuring brick construction and a dome housing a major telescope for astronomical work. The complex was designed as an integrated scientific center to conduct observations and meteorological measurements.

This facility opened in 1932 to replace an earlier astronomical station that had operated elsewhere under private initiative. Moving the observatory to Lille represented a major expansion and modernization of the city's scientific infrastructure.
