Parc-de-Montsouris, Administrative quarter in 14th arrondissement, Paris, France.
Parc-de-Montsouris is a residential quarter in the 14th arrondissement positioned between Boulevard Saint-Jacques and Avenue Paul Vaillant-Couturier. The area features cobbled streets, green spaces, and quiet blocks of modest building heights that feel distinct from denser Paris neighborhoods.
The quarter was created in 1860 during Paris expansion by incorporating territories from the Gentilly commune. Its original name was La Santé until 1937 when it was renamed to reflect the area today.
The neighborhood reflects its role as an academic hub with schools and university facilities woven into daily life. Students and families shape the character of the streets and public spaces throughout this quarter.
The area connects to central Paris via RER line B at Cité Universitaire station and metro line 4 at Porte d'Orléans. Several bus routes also serve the neighborhood, making it straightforward to get around and reach other parts of the city.
A major water reservoir was built between 1868 and 1873 and was the largest water storage facility in the world when completed. This engineering achievement remains a defining feature of the quarter, supplying water to southern Paris.
