Rocca dell'Abisso, Mountain summit at French-Italian border, France and Italy
The Roche de l'Abisse reaches an elevation of 2755 meters and features steep rocky slopes with hiking trails leading to its summit.
The summit changed nationality in 1947 following a plebiscite that modified the border between France and Italy in this Alpine region.
Hikers can observe memorial plaques at the summit, documenting the history of Italian mountaineers who frequented these locations.
The summit ascent requires a 15-kilometer hike with an elevation gain of 905 meters, accessible from Col de Tende at 1871 meters.
From the summit, visitors can see the Mediterranean Sea, Corsica, and Monte Rosa on clear days.
