Château Labottière, Private mansion and creative residency in Bordeaux, France.

Château Labottière is a private mansion and creative residence in Bordeaux featuring eighteenth-century neoclassical architecture. The rectangular structure spans two stories and displays classical proportions with a balustrade crowning the roofline.

Brothers Antoine and Jacques Labottière, book publishers from Bordeaux, commissioned this house between 1770 and 1773. Architects Étienne and Jacques Laclotte designed the neoclassical structure that reflects the taste of the period.

The Institut Culturel Bernard Magrez uses the rooms today for exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. Visitors can see how a historical mansion serves as a venue for current artistic work.

The building is typically open for visits during specific seasons and requires advance planning to arrange access. Check opening times and admission rules ahead of your visit, as it remains a private residence with limited public access.

The facade displays decorative figures of children unrolling ornate cloth in the central pediment, symbolizing the publishing business of the original owners. This artistic detail served as a personal statement about the brothers' profession.
