Punta Renosa, Mountain summit in Corsica, France
Punta Renosa is a granite summit in central Corsica that rises to 1942 meters and features steep northwest slopes with exposed rock faces. The terrain around it is dominated by bare stone and boulder fields that give the peak its rough, dramatic appearance.
The peak lies within an area protected since the 1970s to preserve Corsica's mountain landscape. Ski operations once ran on the slopes but were abandoned due to inconsistent snowfall patterns.
Punta Renosa stands within the Regional Natural Park of Corsica, established in 1971 to protect the central mountain range's natural heritage.
Hikers start from the Vizzavona Pass and follow red and white trail markers across open boulder fields toward the summit. The routes are often exposed and require sure footing, especially when wet or slippery.
Below the peak lies Lac de Bastiani, a high-altitude lake that retains patches of ice even during summer months. This unusual condition occurs due to specific weather patterns that affect this alpine zone.
