This mountain peak has documented over 643 recorded ascensions since tracking began, marking its role in the development of Pyrenean mountaineering activities.
Local shepherds from both French and Spanish sides of the Pyrenees have used the paths around Petrechema for centuries during seasonal livestock movements.
Climbers can access Petrechema through the village of Lescun in France or from the Linza Mountain Hut at 1300 meters elevation in Spain.
The mountain offers simultaneous views of two countries, with clear visibility extending to prominent peaks such as Midi d'Ossau and Collarada.
