Hall Laissac, Market hall in Montpellier, France.
Halles Laissac is a modern market hall in Montpellier with around 24 stalls selling fresh vegetables, meat, fish, cheese, and regional specialties. The vendors are local producers and artisans who sell their goods directly to shoppers.
The building opened in 2018 and replaced an older structure on the same site. It continues a long tradition of local commerce at Place Alexandre Laissac.
The space reflects how locals shop for fresh food daily, moving from stall to stall to find regional products and chat with vendors. The open layout brings people together around a shared routine of sourcing ingredients and discovering what's new.
The building is near Place de la Comédie and easy to reach on foot. Visitors should know that weekends get crowded, so weekday visits are more pleasant for browsing.
A colorful perforated canvas roof designed by artist Mona Young-Eun Kim covers the building and is shaped like a melon. This artwork blends modern design with a nod to the region's produce tradition.

Montpellier offers numerous photography spots throughout its urban landscape. The city features modern architecture like the Arbre Blanc building and historic sites such as the Porte du Peyrou arch. Small streets, gardens, and contemporary districts provide diverse settings for photography. The mix of old and new architecture includes the neoclassical Antigone district and medieval structures like the Tour des Pins.
Montpellier offers a nice walk through different parts of its history. The Place de la Comédie is the center of the city, with its fountain of the Three Graces that draws visitors and locals. Moving up to the Promenade of Peyrou, you see a triumphal arch from the 18th century that overlooks the city and gives a wide view of the surroundings. The Fabre Museum holds paintings and sculptures from seven centuries of art. Since 1593, the Botanical Garden has kept its collection of plants, creating a green and quiet stop in the middle of the city. The Saint-Pierre Cathedral stands out with its two twin gothic towers that can be seen from afar. Walking through the streets, you notice how different parts of Montpellier show its changes. The Antigone neighborhood has buildings with simple lines, inspired by neoclassical style, while the Saint-Roch neighborhood keeps an old look with stone houses and narrow passages that invite exploration. Both areas show how the city grew while keeping its roots.
