Akhaltsikhe Museum

The Samtskhe-Javakheti History Museum contains eleven exhibition halls displaying over 25,000 artifacts relating to regional cultural heritage and archaeological findings.

Founded in 1923 and relocated to Rabati Fortress in 1972, the museum received its name from Georgian historian Ivane Javakhishvili upon moving to its current location.

The museum exhibits feature agricultural tools, national clothing, household objects, wood carvings, copper items, and silverware representing local traditions.

The museum building stands inside the reconstructed Rabati Fortress complex at E 691 in Akhaltsikhe, offering visitors access to multiple historical attractions in one location.

The numismatic collection includes first-millennium Caesar Augusto Denarius coins and Byzantine gold pieces from the eleventh century discovered in the region.
