Medea statue, Bronze monument in Batumi, Georgia
The Medea statue rises against the Black Sea backdrop, holding the Golden Fleece in her right hand while standing in a commanding position.
The statue was erected in 2007 during an official ceremony attended by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, marking a new era for the city.
The monument represents Medea, daughter of King Aeetes of Colchis, connecting Georgian heritage with ancient Greek mythology through this bronze creation.
The statue stands at coordinates 41°39′04″N 41°38′13″E in central Batumi, accessible by public transportation and surrounded by numerous visitor facilities.
The monument, designed by Belgian-based architect Davit Khmaladze, required an investment of 1,230,000 laris from the Georgian government for its construction.
