Alphabetic Tower, Modern tower in Batumi, Georgia
The Alphabetic Tower is a modern structure standing about 130 meters tall in Batumi, featuring two helix bands wrapped with letters of the Georgian alphabet across its exterior. The building contains multiple levels including dining spaces and observation areas for visitors to experience different heights and views.
The structure was designed and built between 2010 and 2011 by a Spanish engineering company and opened in late 2011. This project brought contemporary architecture to Batumi while celebrating the local alphabet system.
The tower celebrates Georgian writing as part of the city's modern identity. Passersby encounter the alphabet letters as living symbols of local heritage integrated into everyday urban life.
The tower is best visited during daylight hours when the letters are clearly visible and the observation areas offer full views of the surroundings. Visitors should be prepared to use both stairs and elevators to reach the different levels throughout the structure.
The silver sphere at the tower's peak contains a rotating restaurant that completes a full turn every hour. This spinning dining space gives guests constantly changing views of the Black Sea and city without leaving their seats.
