Babillon Tower, Skyscraper in Batumi, Georgia
Babillon Tower is a 170-meter (560-foot) skyscraper in Batumi, Georgia, with 47 floors housing a mix of residential apartments, offices, shops, and a four-star hotel. The building also contains a casino, cafes, and restaurants spread across its lower and middle floors.
The project was officially launched in 2013, following initial proposals from 2012, and went through several construction phases over the following years. Completion was planned for 2024, marking the end of a decade-long development process.
The tower reflects the transformation Batumi has gone through in recent decades, shifting from a Black Sea port into a city with modern towers and an international crowd. The lower floors, with their shops, restaurants, and open areas, are accessible to everyone and show how city life here feels today.
The lower floors with shops, restaurants, and the casino are open without prior booking, while access to the hotel rooms and apartments is limited to guests and residents. An evening visit works well since the building is lit up and the area along Batumi's seafront is at its most active.
The property was sold by the Georgian government to MC Construction through an online auction with a starting price of 24.5 million GEL. This approach to assigning large development projects through a public digital sale was unusual for a project of this scale in Georgia.
