Joseph Stalin Museum, Biographical museum in Gori, Georgia.
The Joseph Stalin Museum is a biographical museum in Gori, Georgia, dedicated to the life of the Soviet leader. A small wooden hut stands under a large columned pavilion, beside a multi-story exhibition building and a green railway carriage on a track.
The museum opened in the 1950s shortly after the death of the leader and documents his time in Gori. The wooden hut dates from the late 19th century and was later surrounded by a protective structure.
Visitors enter a two-story building with large halls filled with paintings and documents from the Soviet period. The rooms show personal objects like pipes, uniforms, and gifts from other countries.
Guided tours last about an hour and cover all three parts of the complex. The railway carriage stands outside and remains accessible in cooler weather.
The carriage was used for travel across the Soviet Union and as far as Tehran. A plaster death mask sits in a display case on the upper floor.
