Poti Sea Port, Maritime port in Poti, Georgia

Poti Sea Port lies at the mouth of the Rioni River on Georgia's eastern Black Sea coast, at 42°9′18″N 41°39′16″E, with UN/LOCODE GEPTI. It is the largest port on the eastern Black Sea. A new seaport next to the existing one opened in January 2022 with a capacity of 3 million tons, and a multimodal container terminal built with Kazakh and Georgian funding entered service on 9 June 2025.

This facility began developing in the early 1800s under Russian control and grew gradually into a modern trading port. It played an important role in connecting the Black Sea region with European markets.

The port brings together European and Asian trading traditions that shape daily life in the city through constant international activity. Visitors see ships from many countries and experience a place defined by global commercial connections.

The facility is reachable on foot or by public transport from the city center and offers viewing points to watch ship operations. A visit works best during daytime hours when most loading activities take place.
