Islam Grčki

Islam Grčki is a settlement in the Ravni Kotari region of Zadar County situated in the continental part of Croatia. The village spreads across gently rolling terrain at a moderate elevation and connects well to regional roads serving the area.

The settlement emerged during Ottoman times as Saddislam and served as a boundary marker between Ottoman-controlled territories in the region. It was later renamed and evolved into an established community with local governance and institutions.

The Orthodox Church of Saint George shapes the heart of the settlement and reflects the Eastern Christian tradition practiced here for generations. Its presence defines how the community gathers and marks important moments throughout the year.

The settlement is best explored on foot or by car, as movement depends mainly on local roads and pathways typical of rural areas. Arriving early in the day allows for a relaxed visit to religious and historical sites without rush.

The Janković Towers reflect a period of defensive construction and were part of local resistance efforts against external threats in earlier centuries. These structures offer insight into the architectural history of the region beyond its religious buildings.
