Stinica

Stinica is a coastal settlement that stretches along two bays with a 150-meter pier. The place serves as the main transit point for travelers heading to Rab Island.

The settlement sits on the remains of an ancient city called Ortopla that was destroyed in the 13th century. Traces of a medieval fortress and old building foundations are still visible at this location.

The fishing community here maintains traditional ways of working with the sea that have passed through generations and shape daily life. These practices remain visible in how people use boats and work along the water.

The place is best visited in calm weather, since the ferry crossing to Rab depends on conditions. It helps to arrive early if you plan to take the ferry, as departures follow a set schedule.

The bay of Zavratnica to the south holds submerged wreckage of German military vessels from World War II. These remains lie at a depth of about 20 meters and silently mark a chapter of the region's wartime history.
