Kaštel Žegarski

Kaštel Žegarski is a small settlement in Zadar County, located in the hilly terrain of the Obrovac region. The village sits within a rural landscape characterized by forests and natural surroundings typical of inland Dalmatia.

The settlement grew near important trade routes connecting Zadar with Šibenik and Knin during medieval times. Records show that the area was under the influence of local rulers who controlled the inland Dalmatian territories.

The settlement maintains traditional Croatian rural practices, reflected in the local customs and social structure of its 122 residents.

The settlement is located in a remote rural area and is best reached by personal vehicle. Nearby larger towns are several kilometers away and offer better access to basic services and supplies.

The village sits at the foot of the Velebit mountain range and near the Zrmanja River canyon. This proximity to dramatic natural formations makes it a convenient starting point for water activities and nature exploration.
