Csongrád-Csanád County, County in Southern Great Plain, Hungary
The administrative region covers 4,262 square kilometers of flat land between the Tisza and Maros rivers in southeastern Hungary.
The territory became nearly uninhabited after the Ottoman occupation ended in 1715, leading to systematic resettlement from northern Hungarian counties.
The county assembly actively supports Romanian and Roma national self-governments, which established their inaugural sessions in October 2024.
The region contains seven administrative districts, including Szeged District and Makó District, with Szeged serving as the administrative center.
The county receives more than 2,000 hours of sunlight annually, contributing to its agricultural production of paprika and onions.
