The Algyői vasúti Tisza-híd carries the Szeged–Kötegyán railway over the Tisza north of Algyő, linking Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely. Its river span is a steel structure with a 104-metre main span, joined to a lattice steel floodplain bridge; the deck over the river is reinforced concrete. The structure was assembled on the Szeged bank and slid onto the piers from barges.

The bridge was built between 1868 and 1870 as part of the Alföld–Fiume Railway and opened on 16 November 1870, when its 104-metre steel span was the country's largest. The floodplain timber section was rebuilt in 1902, and the river span was replaced by a new structure assembled on the Szeged bank, opened in 1960. The floodplain span was renewed in 1976, and between 2018 and 2021 bearings, piers and cross beams were strengthened for the Szeged–Hódmezővásárhely tram-train.

The bridge carries the Szeged–Kötegyán railway line, and from 1935 until 1974 it also served road traffic: the space between the rails was planked with wood so that the road between Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely could use it instead of the low-capacity Algyő ferry. A lifting section in the eastern floodplain span let ships pass at high water.

The bridge is part of the regular transportation network and can be crossed by travelers using the train or tram-train system. Information about schedules and current operating conditions is available from local transit operators.

In 1902 the old river-span steel structure was slid from its old piers onto new ones in just six hours, and the rebuilt crossing stood 150 metres longer than its predecessor. A lifting section in the eastern floodplain span kept the Tisza passable for shipping at high water.
