Lake Fehér

Lake Fehér spans 14 square kilometers of saltwater terrain, containing colloidal lime salts that create a characteristic whitish appearance in the water.

The lake's first documented reference dates to 1075, with regular flooding from the Tisza River shaping its development until the nineteenth century.

The lake forms part of the Kiskunság National Park, serving as a natural sanctuary where visitors observe traditional Hungarian conservation practices.

Visitors can access designated observation points around the lake to watch 280 different bird species, including cranes and wild geese during migration seasons.

During dry periods, the lakebed produces salt formations on its surface, creating white crystalline deposits known as salt blossoms.
