Csongrád-Csanád County

Csongrád-Csanád is a county in southern Hungary situated between the Tisza and Maros rivers, characterized by flat, fertile land. The territory is divided into seven administrative districts and is governed from Szeged.

After Ottoman occupation ended around 1715, the region lay nearly empty for years and was later resettled by populations from northern Hungary. This migration significantly shaped the composition and culture of today's inhabitants.

The region is shaped by close community ties, with traditional crafts and local celebrations woven into everyday life. Different population groups maintain their own customs and food traditions that define the character of the area.
