The Budai Vigadó exhibits eclectic architecture with a light-green interior, featuring hundreds of lamps illuminating grand staircases and detailed stucco decorations.
The building opened on January 20, 1900, transforming a former military depot into an entertainment center that served both sides of the Danube.
The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble performs traditional dance and music in the 306-seat theater, which originated as a 350-square-meter assembly hall.
The cultural center contains multiple performance spaces, a rehearsal room for dancers, and hosts the National Institute for Culture and Hungarian Heritage House.
The interior features Erik Pauli murals titled 'The Eve' and 'The Morning' alongside large mirrors that decorate the main hall walls.
