Old Town Hall in Buda, Town hall in Buda Castle Quarter, Hungary.
The Old Town Hall of Buda sits at the corner of Szentháromság Square with Baroque architecture, thick walls, and multiple stories arranged vertically. The building displays Buda's coat of arms on its roof and rests on a classical base that emphasizes its role as the former administrative seat.
The structure rose between 1692 and 1710 atop the remains of an older Gothic building, with Italian master builder Ceresola overseeing construction. Its completion came as Buda rebuilt itself following Ottoman conflicts and needed new administrative facilities.
The building shapes the square with its steep Baroque facade and the Athena statue that still gazes outward from its perch. Visitors notice how the place continues to serve as a social focal point in the neighborhood where people gather and history feels tangible.
The building sits centrally on the square and is easily reached on foot, with its corner location marking its position clearly. Visitors can view the exterior anytime, and on warm days people often sit around the square to admire the structure from various angles.
Inside rests an ornate Rococo staircase added during the second half of the 1700s that reflects the craftsmanship of that period. This staircase remains a hidden gem for those willing to step beyond the threshold and explore the interior rooms.
