Tóth Árpád sétány, Budapest, rue d'une ville de Hongrie
Tóth Árpád sétány is a promenade on the southwestern side of Buda Castle in Budapest. It extends as a double tree-lined path with horse chestnuts on one side and Japanese ornamental cherry trees on the other, complete with benches and modern street furniture throughout.
The site dates back to the 18th century when a narrow path beside the city wall was used only by soldiers. Over time it was widened and renamed several times, finally receiving its current name in 1946 in honor of poet Árpád Tóth.
The promenade is named after Árpád Tóth, a 20th-century Hungarian poet. Today it serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors experience seasonal changes, particularly in spring when the Japanese ornamental cherry trees bloom in pink and draw people to photograph and linger.
Visitors can walk the promenade year-round and find benches for resting throughout. Spring is the best time when the cherry blossoms bloom, but the path remains accessible and easy to walk in all seasons.
The promenade features the Mátyás Fountain from 1904, a sculpture by Alajos Strobl considered one of the finest sculptures in the area. The flowing water and historic craftsmanship create a memorable experience for visitors.
