Arany Sas pharmacy museum, Pharmacy museum in Castle District, Budapest, Hungary.
The Arany Sas Pharmacy Museum occupies an 18th-century building and displays bottles, instruments, and equipment that pharmacists once used. The rooms are arranged like a historical shop where you can see how medicines were prepared and sold.
The pharmacy was founded after the Turkish occupation ended and was one of the first medical businesses in Buda. It later moved to its current location and was eventually converted into a museum to preserve this medical past.
The displays show how local people treated illness over many generations and what remedies they trusted. The objects reveal the relationship between pharmacists and their communities during different time periods.
The museum is reached on foot from the castle area, where there is plenty of room to move around. It is a small collection that takes less than an hour to see, so you can easily visit it between other activities in the district.
The museum holds handwritten prescriptions and personal notes from pharmacists centuries ago. These documents show how medicines were mixed individually for each patient.
