Mihály Munkácsy Museum

The Mihály Munkácsy Museum presents archaeological artifacts, ethnographic objects, fine artworks, historical items, and natural science specimens in a neoclassical building.

The Museum Association of Békéscsaba established the institution in 1899, and architect József Wágner completed the current building in 1914.

The museum maintains over 170,000 archaeological items, 10,000 ethnographic objects, 5,500 fine artworks, and a collection of 37,000 historical documents.

Located at Széchenyi István Street 9, the museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM with wheelchair accessibility.

The institution houses the largest collection of Mihály Munkácsy artifacts globally, including ten paintings, nine prints, and 576 personal items.
