Gyürky-Solymossy Castle & Park, Kisterenye, Baroque château in Kisterenye, Hungary.
Gyürky-Solymossy Castle is a baroque manor house in Kisterenye featuring 18th-century architectural elements including an onion-dome design and multiple reception halls. It sits at the confluence of the Zagyva and Tarján rivers within extensive landscaped grounds.
The estate originally belonged to the Gyürky family and passed to the Solymossy family through marriage, resulting in significant structural modifications. These ownership changes shaped the building's form and decoration over time.
The castle houses a permanent exhibition of sculptor István Szabó, displaying his works and studio tools in a reconstructed workspace. Visitors can see how this award-winning artist created his pieces in this setting.
The estate spans roughly 13 hectares of parkland with multiple pathways for exploring the grounds. The site is accessible and offers several routes to discover both the building and the surrounding landscape.
The protected park contains around 120 different tree species, including rare varieties such as Canadian ironwood and Chinese juniper mixed with native Hungarian vegetation. This botanical diversity makes the grounds a remarkable experience for nature lovers.
