Mexikó-völgy Sinkhole, Protected limestone cave in Bükk National Park, Hungary.
Mexikó-völgy Sinkhole is a protected limestone cave system in Bükk National Park featuring multiple passages and three main vertical shafts. The cave extends considerably with narrow sections connecting different chambers throughout its structure.
Systematic exploration of the cave began in 1953 when the Hungarian Hydrological Society investigated the site where the Mexikó stream disappears underground. Research and documentation of the site have continued since that initial survey.
Scientists discovered fossils of cave bears, hyenas, giant deer, and cave lions in the surrounding rock formations of the valley.
The cave entrance is located near the valley floor just above the Mexikó stream bed. Access to the site requires official permission from Bükki National Park before visiting.
The Kristálymúzeum chamber contains various colored dripstone formations throughout its passages. These mineral deposits create distinctive features within specific sections of the cave.
