Pantai Botutonuo, Coastal destination in Bone Bolango, Indonesia
Pantai Botutonuo is a beach along the southern coast of Gorontalo that stretches roughly one kilometer toward Tomini Gulf. The western section has light sand, while the central and eastern portions transition to small pebbles.
The location started as a simple fishing boat dock used by local fishermen from Gorontalo. The shift toward becoming a managed tourism destination began in 2009 through community-led efforts.
The beach is managed by the local community, which keeps the area operating through small family-run businesses and food stalls. You can taste regional specialties and see how residents use the waterfront as a gathering place.
The beach is accessible via multiple routes through residential neighborhoods, with travel from Gorontalo city center taking roughly 35 minutes. Since the access paths are not always clearly marked, having a map or local guidance helps avoid getting lost.
This beach remained largely overlooked until the community revived it around 2009 with their own efforts and no outside investment. It shows how a forgotten fishing spot can gain new life through local initiative and care.
