Har Halutz, Community settlement in Misgav Regional Council, Israel
Har Halutz is a community settlement in the Galilee region situated at 734 meters elevation on rocky terrain within the Gush Tefen area. The community has two office buildings and a master plan outlines construction of approximately 330 single-family homes.
The settlement was founded in 1985 by nine families comprising American immigrants and Israeli citizens aligned with the movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism. The early group established the foundation for what would grow into the community of today.
The community gathers in a synagogue where members participate in religious services, celebrate holidays, and mark important family occasions throughout the year.
Visitors should be aware that the settlement sits on elevated terrain with steeper pathways that may require sturdy footwear for comfortable walking. It is best to plan a visit during daylight hours when community facilities are accessible and the area is active.
Near the settlement stands an ancient earthen stone wall with no recorded permanent settlements documented since the Second Temple period. This structure bears witness to earlier human activity in the region before the modern community was established.
