Gilon

Gilon is a community settlement in Lower Galilee built across the northern slopes of Mount Gilon. The settlement sits about 7 kilometers west of Karmiel within the Misgav Regional Council at an elevation of roughly 295 meters.

The settlement was founded in 1980 by the Mishkei Herut Beitar movement as part of efforts to establish communities in northern Israel. This timing reflects a broader initiative to develop the Galilee region.

Residents participate in council committees, managing local services and organizing community activities that strengthen connections between neighboring settlements in the Misgav region.

The settlement is accessed by road from Karmiel, which provides shopping and public transportation options for those visiting the area. Services and supplies are concentrated in the nearby city for visitor convenience.

The settlement is part of a network comprising about 35 small communities within the Misgav Regional Council, collectively shaping rural development in the area. This regional integration influences how residents connect and cooperate across neighboring towns.
