Sisters of Nazareth convent – Shefa-Amr

The Sisters of Nazareth convent features stone walls, entrances, and architectural elements characteristic of nineteenth-century religious structures in northern Israel.

In 1858, after local residents donated land containing a fourth-century church, Sister Hilo established the convent to serve the regional Catholic community.

The convent maintains three educational institutions, including the Sons of Mariam institute for Christian teachings and the Sawa institute for artistic programs.

Visitors can explore the convent grounds, which include a school educating 1,000 children and multiple community gathering spaces for religious activities.

The convent stands upon archaeological remains of a first-century Jewish dwelling with burial caves, containing original stone walls and ancient artifacts.
