Rakefet, Community settlement in Lower Galilee, Israel.
Rakefet is a community settlement in the Misgav Regional Council located in Lower Galilee, spread across rolling hills. Situated at roughly 324 meters elevation, it offers views of the surrounding Galilean landscape and nearby towns like Sakhnin.
It was founded in 1981 as a moshav shitufi, a type of cooperative village with collective farming practices. In 1989, it changed its structure to become a community settlement, shifting away from its agricultural cooperative model.
The name comes from the Hebrew word for cyclamen flower, reflecting a connection to the local plant life. Daily life here is shaped by cooperative traditions that emphasize community bonds among residents.
The settlement sits in hilly terrain and is best explored on foot or with local transportation. The Misgav Regional Council center nearby provides information for visitors wanting to understand the wider area and its features.
In 2011, the Supreme Court ruled that the Israel Lands Administration must allocate land plots to Arab families living here. This legal decision brought significant changes to who could become residents and how the settlement developed.
