Isfiya

Isfiya is a local council on Mount Carmel at about 520 meters elevation, with stone buildings and narrow streets that overlook Haifa Bay. The buildings are arranged along the slopes, following the natural terrain and creating a maze of pathways and steps.

Archaeological excavations revealed a Jewish settlement from the 5th century, including a synagogue with mosaic work. This shows the area has been inhabited since ancient times.

The community here is predominantly Druze, and their traditions shape how daily life unfolds in the streets and homes. You notice this heritage in local customs and in how different groups coexist peacefully in the same neighborhoods.

Paved roads link the settlement to Haifa with regular transportation services available throughout the day. Wearing comfortable shoes is recommended because the pathways are steep and full of stairs.

A shrine in the village draws Druze pilgrims each year in November for a religious observance. This sacred site holds deep meaning for the faithful who gather here annually.
