Re'im, Agricultural kibbutz in Eshkol Regional Council, Israel.
Re'im is a kibbutz in Eshkol Regional Council in southern Israel, positioned on a plateau 141 feet (43 meters) above sea level. The settlement sits between two highways where two streams meet near the northern Negev.
Members of the Israel Boy and Girl Scouts Federation established the kibbutz in 1949 after demobilizing from the Palmach. The community grew from a group of former fighters who began farming the land after the War of Independence.
The community maintains agricultural traditions through cooperative agreements, managing crops and livestock while operating manufacturing facilities such as Isralaser and IsraBig.
The location near the Gaza border affects daily life with frequent alerts requiring residents to reach shelters within seconds. Reinforced rooms are available in every building and near work areas throughout the settlement.
Nearby stands Tell Jemmeh, an excavation site of the Bronze Age city of Yursa mentioned in Egyptian texts. Archaeologists uncovered Canaanite fortifications and trade route evidence at this hill.
