El-Masri palace on Mount Gerizim

El-Masri Palace is a Renaissance-style mansion built on Mount Gerizim, featuring marble columns, domed ceilings, and situated across a 40-hectare estate. The structure incorporates imported materials and commands views over the Nablus landscape.

Construction began in 1998 using some 200 containers of imported materials, and the palace opened officially in 2000. Archaeological discoveries during building work prompted protective measures to be put in place.

The palace houses a museum with Byzantine artifacts and metal crosses discovered during construction, reflecting the site's layered past. These objects share space with artworks by modern masters, giving the interior a dialogue between ancient and contemporary culture.

The mansion is accessible via Mount Gerizim and visitors should prepare for hilly terrain and varying path conditions. Plan for time to explore both the interior rooms and the surrounding grounds.

The design draws inspiration from Villa La Rotonda, blending classical Renaissance elements with contemporary construction methods. This approach shows how historical architectural models can be reinterpreted in modern building projects.
