‘En Ẕemed, Natural spring in Northern District, Israel
'En Ẕemed is a natural spring in northern Israel where water flows through a pipe system into a small pool that connects to the nearby Avuka stream. The spring sits in the Jordan Valley landscape with established water channels directing the flow downstream.
The spring was previously known as Masil Spring, named after the Arab village of Masil al-Jizl that stood in the region until 1948. The area changed significantly during the Independence War period.
Tel Tzemed, located above the spring, features a statue depicting King Saul carried by his warriors after his death in the Battle of Gilboa.
The location is part of the Valley of Springs Trail with multiple walking paths suitable for family visits and nature exploration. The area offers accessible routes that work well for different skill levels and paces.
The water accumulates under eucalyptus trees and forms a small wetland area that attracts bird watchers. This green pocket creates a striking contrast against the dry Jordan Valley surroundings.
