Dahod district

Dahod is an administrative district in Gujarat with forests and hills spread across its landscape at the border where three states meet. Several rivers including the Panam and Khan flow through the region, supporting farming and settlements with water resources.

This area became a separate district in 1997 when it split from Panchmahal to form its own administration. Dahod city was named as the headquarters for the newly created district.

The Bhil people shape daily life here through their customs, festivals, and crafts that remain visible in villages and markets. Dawoodi Bohra Muslims also maintain their own communities and traditions throughout the district.

The region has hills and forests, so comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are helpful for exploring. Travel is easiest after the rainy season when paths are dry and accessible.

The Ratanmahal Wildlife Sanctuary protects sloth bears and other rare animals thriving in the forests and hills here. This sanctuary plays a key role in keeping this part of the region's natural life intact.
