Bharatpur district

Bharatpur district is an administrative region in eastern Rajasthan with a total area of about 5,066 square kilometers, consisting of roughly 4,916 square kilometers of rural land and about 149 square kilometers of urban settlements. The territory is divided into ten administrative blocks, with Bayana being the largest administrative subdivision.

The area was once part of the ancient Matsya Kingdom, one of the sixteen great Mahajanapadas of early India. This kingdom played a significant role in the early history of northern India.

The local population speaks Hindi and Braj Bhasha, a regional language that has been maintained here for generations. This linguistic diversity shapes daily life and the cultural identity of people across the district.
