Ghent Kangri, Mountain peak in Saltoro Mountains, India
Ghent Kangri reaches an elevation of 7,401 meters, making it the third highest mountain in the Karakoram's Saltoro Mountains along the India-Pakistan border.
The first successful ascent occurred on June 4, 1961, when Wolfgang Axt, part of an Austrian expedition, reached the summit after establishing four high-altitude camps.
The mountain's location near the Siachen Glacier has made it significant in the territorial discussions between India and Pakistan regarding border demarcations.
Climbers attempting to reach the summit must navigate through multiple glacier sections and establish several camps, starting from a base camp at 4,150 meters.
The mountain features a double peak configuration, with Ghent Kangri II situated approximately one kilometer northeast of the primary summit at 7,401 meters.
