Urdok Kangri

Urdok Kangri is a summit in the Karakoram range reaching 7,250 meters with three distinct peaks that form a natural border between China and Pakistan. The massif sits amid steep terrain with extensive snow and ice fields across its slopes.

The first successful summit push took place in 1975 when an Austrian team reached the main peak. This achievement marked the initial recorded ascent of this prominent border region.

The mountain draws people from Chinese Xinjiang and Pakistani Gilgit-Baltistan regions who maintain traditional mountaineering support methods for climbers. These practices show how local communities have long assisted expeditions crossing this border terrain.

Climbers need specialized high-altitude gear and must plan careful acclimatization since the location is extremely remote. Extensive supplies and strong physical preparation are essential for a safe expedition.

Two of the three peaks remain unclimbed and present unexplored challenges for future expeditions. The main summit stands as the only known accessible peak among these three formations.
