Broad Peak Central, Mountain summit in Karakoram Range, Pakistan
Broad Peak Central is a mountain summit in the Karakoram Range with an elevation of 8011 meters (26,299 feet). It forms part of the extended summit ridge connected to the main Broad Peak mountain system.
This peak was first summited several years after the main Broad Peak was climbed by Austrian mountaineers in 1957. It has since become a regular objective for climbing expeditions in the region.
Local Balti communities maintain traditional knowledge of the mountain paths and serve as essential guides for international climbing expeditions.
Climbers typically establish four camps along the route, with the final camp positioned at about 7500 meters (24,600 feet). The summit push is usually completed as a single push from this point.
The location between K2 and the Gasherbrum massif allows climbers to view multiple 8000-meter peaks simultaneously from the summit. This positioning makes it a valuable vantage point for understanding the layout of the high peaks in the region.
