Heggadadevana kote

Heggadadevana Kote is a town in the Mysore district situated at an elevation of about 700 meters in a region shaped by water reservoirs. The landscape is defined by water bodies like Kabini and Nugu reservoirs that surround the area and influence daily life.

This place developed over time as a local administrative center in the region. A major project was the Taraka irrigation system, built in the latter part of the 20th century to bring water from the Kabini reservoir for farming needs.

The town maintains traditional governance through a 13-ward system where local representatives participate in elections every five years to manage community affairs.

The town is well accessible and offers basic facilities for visitors and residents. It is advisable to visit during the cooler season when the climate is more pleasant for exploring the area.

The area sits on ancient geological bedrock with rock formations from prehistoric times that rank among the oldest known layers in Karnataka. These Sargur supracrustals reveal the deep geological history of this region.
